Artist's Statement
A quote from Grant Wood describes a condition from which he and many of us suffer: taking too much for granted. Wood said, "...To my great joy, I discovered that in the very commonplace, in my native surroundings, were decorative adventures and that my only difficulty had been in taking them too much for granted." Woods' words ring with truth. My goal as an artist is to capture the wonder of the often overlooked ordinary, the commonplace beauty around us, those little details that make all the difference in our daily lives. The rough hue of rocks, lush blue woodlands, weathered wood grains, and distant meandering dirt roads never cease to appeal to me. I attempt to share the beauty from which routine blinds us. My work can be purchased on ebay or by contacting me personally.

Looking for the Dogs 11x14
For the hunters out there---Looking for the Dogs was painted more than a year ago. I put the painting aside and have yet to frame it. I do that often.

North Beach, PEI 8x10
Prince Edward Island must be on my mind. We walked on the beach one blustery day. The cool weather didn't stop anyone. Swimmers, sunbathers, and beachcombers were out in full force.

Northern Point Lighthouse 11x14
My friends and I camped for a few weeks on Prince Edward Island, Canada. We enjoyed several days of plein air painting. This was painted on a windy, wet day. Although uncomfortable at times, I enjoyed every moment of this day. I tried to capture the fog and overcast atmosphere which was an interesting effort.

PEI Lighthouse 11x14
I can't say enough good things about Prince Edward Island, Canada--such a beautiful place, a strange mix of farm land and coastal frontage. Some friends and I camped there for three weeks and spent a lot of time painting on location. This piece is one of the scenes painted during our time there. How can one go wrong with a white lighthouse against such a backdrop?

Rainy Day on the Lake 8x10
I painted this while at the Art Colony on Lake Martin last year. Since recent tornado damage has changed the appearance of this place, we may have a totally different view this October. Rebuilding and repair is underway now. I wonder if this little island lost it trees.

Ranch View 8x10
While driving through New Mexico on a trip out West, a view from the car window caught my attention. This ranch set against a backdrop of mountains was beautiful to me . I took a photo and tried to paint the view. I'm not satisfied with it. Perhaps I need to give it a second try.

Serenity 8x10
This little painting has sold and I miss it. Maybe I can paint a larger similiar one because I like this peaceful place, hence the name.

Santa Fe Chair 30x32 $500.00
I saw this chair while strolling down Santa Fe Drive, so much beautiful art. I loved the light's play on the chair and flowers. Light manages to lift ordinary objects to an extraordinarily dramatic level.
