Rose and Co. 5x7 $50.00

I am trying to paint smaller and faster, and this is one of them. Although small, I  was pleased with this.

Santa Fe Dwelling $500.00

Santa Fe is a wonderful place; while visiting, I took scads of photos, many of which were of the colorful buildings and flowers. I hope to make a return visit some day.

Lemons on the Slide 11x14 $60.00

Lemons are always fun to paint. I added a brick background, for which I have a penchant.

Geraniums in the Sun 5x7 $50.00

Some friends went out west on a camping vacation and took me (why I don't know). We spent several days walking the streets of Santa Fe. Try it sometime-nothing better. We spent most of those days on Santa Fe Drive, the hot spot for art galleries. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. While there, I took a lot of photos, many of which contained the beautiful flowers along the streets. These geraniums were some of many beautiful floral arrangments. In that New Mexico hot sun, geraniums thrived.

Fruit Glow 8x10 $50.00

In November a friend and I attended an art workshop. While in class, everyone painted this fruit. As always, each person's work looked different. Every painter has his/her unique style.

Fruit Glow 8x10 $50.00

In November a friend and I attended a workshop. We painted this fruit in class. What do you think?

Veggies 8x10 $50.00

--almost that time, time to get the ground prepared for my little garden. I'm not a real gardner like my dad, only a amateur. I have a "salad garden," just to keep me in fresh salads and a few fresh veggies through the summer. I am ready to get my hands dirty.

Bald Rock Study 8x10

I never tire of Cheaha and especially Bald Rock-what a great place to paint. During the Christmas holidays while family was visiting, I drove my daughter and family up to see the winter landscape. -cold but so pretty-
We walked out to the point. I never cease to be enthralled with the rough landscape with huge rocks. Cheaha State Park is a beautiful place. I snapped photos; this painting was a result. In the future, I want to do a larger version.

Cheaha Vista 8x10

A   friend and I spent the day plein air painting (my favorite activity) in the Bowden Grove community. In the distance, the Cheaha Range raised its head. The wind was strong, forcing us to tie everything down, but it was a wonderful day. I came home with three studies which included Cheaha Vista. One of the reasons I am looking forward to warmer weather is the prospect of painting outside. Cheaha is a well-kept secret. Don't tell anyone.

Striped Chair 11x14 $85.00

This piece was one of a set. Its sister piece has sold. I seldom sell a set together--strange. Why is that?

Tropical View 11x14

This painting was inspired by a magazine cover that made me long for vacation days. According to the weather station, warmer weather is here for a week or so, not tropicical weather but definitely warmer. I'll take it. --Here's to summer.

Early Bloom 12x12

I take photos a lot of possible painting subjects. This is a result of photographing my neighbors' yard while on my walk. The weather was cool but early spring flowers were peeking out in places. I shot these and finally painted them last month. The blooms seemed so promising in the cool air. I don't know the name of this little flower, but the delicate blooms appeal to me.

Cabbage 11x14

I planted some cabbage in the late summer, and the plants have survived several days and nights of brutal weather. --such a hardy vegatable. Still edible, the plants are still there. Steamed cabbage on a cold winter night is true soul food. Hats off to this veggie. It deserves to be captured on canvas.

Canyon Rim 8x10

Any photos one sees of the Grand Canyon are inadequate. One has to see the canyon before the vastness and beauty can be appreciated. The same can be said of a painting, including this one. Some sights can only be experienced first hand. Every person should see this wonder at least one time. I was profoundly touched by the sheer space before me. ---words are not capable of expressing the wonder of this place.

Scandanavian Villiage 5x7

I suppose Scandanavian Villiage would be a summer scene. I liked the play of light on the buildings, so I thought I would give this a try. One day I hope to visit this part of the world.

Aspen Curtain 18x24

This piece was painted super quickly. I was working up some simple, quick pieces for a "Sips and Strokes" session that never materialized. I keep thinking I will try to see if I can generate interest in a monthly painting session in Ashland. Am I lazy, negative, or afraid of failure? ...hummm -maybe all three. Maybe I should put my ideas on paper and "think it through." The worst thing that could happen would be I would be out some money, which is certainly not new. I think I am talking myself into it!!!

Monday's Castle 10x16

I used a photo taken at Disney World to work up this study. Monday's Castle was painted on Monday night at our weekly art gathering at Marble Gate Gallery. Not a very romantic title for a castle, but I suppose I was fresh out of titles. I have a love affair with castles since I went to England and never tire of painting them.

Interior 8x10

I saw a decorating magazine with a photo similiar to this several years ago. I liked the light streaming through the window on the furniture, so I thought I would try the design in a painting. I am constantly on the lookout for ideas in magazines. Sometimes it pays off.
